As a foal Maleficent was sweet and carefree, able to roam around the area her family’s herd was located in. Being born of the royals of the herd she was treated with dignity and respect even at her young age. At one year of age her world began to crumble; her parents were tragically killed and it was up to her to lead her herd. She quickly grew up learning to be mature, putting her herds needs before her own. Though on the outside it seemed like the the carefree mare was gone, in secret her carefree self would appear as she took to the sky to enjoy the freedom her wings gave her. Though her carefree attitude wasn’t meant to last for ever; once again tragedy struck when the neighboring humans invaded the peaceful Moors herd killing everyone in their path. Having been struck down, the humans believed the winged horse was dead, but they were gravely mistaken. They took from her the only thing she had left, her wings, as a prize. As Maleficent awoke she was greeted by searing pain from her back, her carefree personality turned into seething hatred and a need for vengeance. The beautiful land her family had called home for many years had been destroyed around her and with that, her and her seething hatred left the only place she had called home in search for something more.
History:
Though she was born of the royalty of the herd in the Moors she was wasn’t treated any different’y then any of the other foals with in the family unit. Maleficent was the only foal born of the royal couple and was therefor the heiress of the herd. For the first few months of her life the little foal grew up with others of the same age, playing with in the safety of the Moors, but all was about to change. With in an instant the young mare had to grow up; a few days before her first birthday her parents were tragically killed by an unknown source. In that moment a young horse was torn from her carefree life and thrusted into the position of power and responsibility, but she did not let her fear take over her mind. In the time that she had become the Lead she protected the Moors with all she had, using her magic to heal the land around her. As a young foal it was discovered that Maleficent had the unique ability to control organic matter, like rocks, water and plants though her mother had always warned her that if she was to leave the Moors her magic would be trapped in her birth stone. The days had blurred together and half a year had passed; the residents of the Moors lived peacefully together till one fateful night, when the neighboring humans invaded. With the help of her organic army and herd of trusted horses they kept the humans a bay, but as night drew into morning Maleficent was over taken and struck down. They, believing she had been killed, took for themselves a prize, her beloved wings. By the next morning the wounded creature awoke to a searing pain as half of her self had been ripped away. The world around her had been destroyed by the hands of the humans, everything she had once held near and dear to her heart had been turned to ash. Standing to survey her land, her once beautiful blue green eyes had turned to bright green and her once carefree personality had been replaced with that of hatred and vengeance. Maleficent knew the consequences of leaving her home but there was nothing left for her to repair in the Moors and with out a look back the black mare left the Moors with nothing more then a staff with her birthstone placed with in the top. For another year and a half the mare traveled through her world seeking a place to live before stumbling upon a portal and landing in Aashirya, it was a place of new beginnings were no one knew her and her past was her past.
